Faculty of Medicine

The Faculty of Medicine was founded in 1985 and welcomed its first students in the 1990–1991 academic year. It was the first Faculty established within the School of Health Sciences at the University of Thessaly, became an autonomous department in 1995, and has since operated in Larissa.

University General Hospital of Larissa

The University General Hospital of Larissa was established by Presidential Decree 411/95 and commenced its operation on 27 September 1999. It is located in the Mezourlo Larissa area, and occupies a building complex of 89,000 sqm situated on a site covering approximately 150,000 sqm.

Katsigra building

The historic Katsigra building in the center of the city is an annex of the Department of Medicine of the School of Health Sciences of the University of Thessaly. The building hosts the Laboratory of Embryology, Biomathematics and Hygiene & Epidemiology.

FIRST-YEAR STUDENTS

Freshman Registrations 2026

The faculty of Medicine of the University of Thessaly welcomes its new students.

Registration for first-year students takes place on the platform of the Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs and Sports. from Thursday, August 27 to Friday, September 4, 2026.

To enter the registration application Press here.

Once the Ministry sends the relevant data, the University of Thessaly will create and send the institutional accounts to the new students.

Welcome to the Faculty of Medicine

The Faculty of Medicine was founded in 1985 and welcomed its first students in the 1990–1991 academic year. It was the first Faculty established within the School of Health Sciences at the University of Thessaly, became an autonomous department in 1995, and has since operated in Larissa.
The facilities of the Faculty of Medicine include pre-clinical course laboratories, clinical units, lecture halls, an auditorium and administration offices.
