EDUCATIONAL SCHOOL VISITS

AT THE DEPARTMENT OF MEDICINE OF THE UNIVERSITY OF THESSALIA

The educational visits to schools with 3rd grade high school students majoring in Health, which took place on 26.01.2026 and 29.01.2026, were completed at the Department of Medicine of the School of Health Sciences of the University of Thessaly.

This is an action with wide social acceptance and necessity that has become an institution in recent years. This year the Department welcomed 21 Schools and a total of 270 students. In more detail, the following schools visited us: 2nd High School of Larissa, 4th High School of Larissa, 5th High School of Larissa, 6th High School of Larissa, 7th High School of Larissa, 8th High School of Larissa, 11th High School of Larissa, 12th High School of Larissa, 14th High School of Larissa, Nikaia High School, Platykampus High School, the Lyceum of Raptos Schools, 3rd High School of Volos, 6th High School of Volos, 7th High School of Volos, 8th High School of Volos, Volos Music Lyceum, Experimental Lyceum of Ionia Prefecture, Velestino High School, 3rd High School of Trikala and 6th High School of Trikala.

The program included a reception and welcome of the students and accompanying professors at the Hippocrates Amphitheater on the first day by the Vice President of the Department, Ms. Alexandra Bargiota, Professor of Pathology-Endocrinology, and on the second day by the President of the Department, Mr. Aristides Zimbis, Professor of Anatomy, and a presentation of the Department of Medicine was made with reference to the program of undergraduate, postgraduate studies and the research conducted by the Department, as well as answers to the students' questions.

Afterwards, the students and accompanying teachers visited the Laboratories that were scheduled to welcome them. They visited the Anatomy, Biology, Biochemistry, Clinical Skills, Pathological Anatomy, and Pharmacology Laboratories. In addition, all the students and accompanying teachers were given a tour of the Library of the School of Health Sciences by the Library staff.

The President of the Department of Medicine, Mr. Aristides Zimbis, Professor of Anatomy, warmly thanks everyone who contributed with their response and their time to the implementation of the students' educational visits to the Department of Medicine.

Initially, he thanks the Vice President of the Department, Ms. Alexandra Bargiota, Professor of Pathology-Endocrinology, who welcomed the students and accompanying Professors and presented the Department of Medicine at the "Hippocrates" Amphitheater.

the Department Secretariat employee, Ms. Sofia Koutsiari, for the coordination and supervision of the visits.

This important action contributed to the extroversion, visibility and openness of the Department of Medicine to society and students, showcasing its high-level academic work.
