THE Professor Saving Zarogiannis on the Board of the General Assembly (BGA) of the International Union of Physiological Sciences (IUPS)

Professor Sotirios Zarogiannis, Director of the Physiology Laboratory of the Department of Medicine of the School of Health Sciences of the University of Thessaly, was elected to the Board of the General Assembly (BGA) of the International Union of Physiological Sciences (IUPS), following a proposal from the Hellenic Society of Physiology, where he is Secretary of the Board.

The IUPS was founded in 1953 and is the secondary scientific association of all Physiology Societies in the world. Its mission is to promote the subject of Physiology on a global level, strengthening international scientific cooperation and knowledge exchange. To this end, among other things, it organizes the World Congress of Physiology every four years and participates in the publication of a large series of international Physiology journals of wide scope.

This election supports the international presence and extroversion of the University of Thessaly and in particular the Department of Medicine, recognizes the international reach of Professor Zarogiannis and creates conditions for international collaborations for the benefit mainly of the Department's graduates. Professor Sotirios Zarogiannis Elected to the Board of the IUPS General Assembly

Larissa, Greece – The University of Thessaly is pleased to announce a significant international achievement for its academic community. Professor Sotirios Zarogiannis, Chair of the Department of Physiology at the Faculty of Medicine, School of Health Sciences, has been elected to the Board of the General Assembly (BGA) of the International Union of Physiological Sciences (IUPS). His candidacy was proposed by the Hellenic Physiological Society, where he currently serves as Secretary of the Executive Board.

 About the IUPS. Founded in 1953, the International Union of Physiological Sciences (IUPS) serves as the global umbrella organization representing physiological societies worldwide. Its mission is to advance the discipline of physiology on a global scale by fostering international scientific collaboration and the exchange of academic knowledge. To achieve these objectives, the IUPS organizes the quadrennial IUPS Congress of Physiology and oversees the publication of an extensive portfolio of high-impact, prestigious international physiology journals.
