NOTICE FOR THE RECRUITMENT OF A TEACHER

TO THE DEPARTMENT OF MEDICINE OF THE SCHOOL OF HEALTH SCIENCES OF THE UNIVERSITY OF THESSALIA FOR THE WINTER SEMESTER OF THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2025-2026

(Article 173 of Law 4957/2022)

The Assembly of the Department of Medicine of the School of Health Sciences of the University of Thessaly, at number 3^or/25.09.2025 EXTRAORDINARY meeting taking into account:

1. The provisions of Articles 15, 30, 64 and 173 of Law 4957/2022 (A΄ 141).
2. The decision of the Minister of Education and Religious Affairs with no. Φ11/98043/Ζ2/07-08-2025 on the subject of "Allocation of positions for the recruitment of tenured lecturers at Universities for the academic year 2025-2026".
3. The decision of the Rector's Council no. 230/20-12-2022 on the employment status of Authorized Teachers.
4. The decision no. 285/20-1-2023 of the Senate of the University of Thessaly on the subject of "Determination of Academic Criteria (qualifications) for the selection of tenured teachers, in accordance with article 173 of Law 4957/2022 (A'141)".
5. No. 87/16-09-2025 Meeting of the Board of Directors of the University of Thessaly.
6. Articles 75 to 79 of Chapter XI "DIGITAL TRANSPARENCY-TRANSPARENCY PROGRAM" of Law 4727/2020 (Government Gazette 184 A) "Digital Governance (Incorporation into Greek Legislation of Directive (EU) 2016/2102 and Directive (EU) 2019/1024) - Electronic Communications (Incorporation into Greek Law of Directive (EU) 2018/1972) and other provisions".

The recruitment of a Teaching Assistant, subject to the existence of the required credits, in order to cover the educational needs of the Department of Medicine of the School of Health Sciences of the University of Thessaly, based in the city of Larissa, for the winter semester of the academic year 2025-2026 and for the teaching of the following course:

– Obstetrics-Gynecology Undergraduate KA0400 (Compulsory- Undergraduate- 11^u semester), in the subject "Obstetrics-Gynecology" with specialization in breast, for 1 hour of teaching per week (part-time), according to article 64 of law 4957/2022

The selected scientists, who are at least holders of a doctoral degree, will be employed under a fixed-term private law employment contract, on a full-time or part-time basis, with the possibility of renewal for a maximum of six (6) consecutive academic semesters or three (3) consecutive academic years. The cost of the recruitment will be covered by the budget of the University of Thessaly for the financial year 2025 following extraordinary funding from the Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs.

It is clarified that, according to paragraph 9 of article 173 of Law 4957/2022 (Α΄141),

natural persons who have one (1) of the following qualities are not allowed to be employed as authorized teachers:

a) Emeritus Professors and retired members of D.E.P. of the relevant or other A.E.I. domestic or foreign,

b) members of D.E.P., Special Educational Staff (E.E.P.), Laboratory Teaching Staff (E.D.I.P.) and Special Technical Laboratory Staff (E.T.E.P.) of A .E.I.,

c) researchers and operational scientists of research and technological bodies of article 13A of Law 4310/2014 (A' 258) and other research organizations,

d) pensioners of the private or wider public sector,

e) employees with a public law or private law open-ended relationship with public sector entities, as defined in point a) of paragraph 1 of article 14 of Law 4270/2014,

f) natural persons who have exceeded the age of sixty-seven (67^. ) year of age.

4. Photocopies of degrees - if the study titles have been granted by an AEI abroad, relevant certificates of their equivalence must be submitted by the Interdisciplinary Organization for the Recognition of Academic Titles and Information - D.O.A.T.A.P.).
5. Certificate of proof of teaching experience, preferably in Higher Education.
6. Copy of PhD thesis
7. Copy of Police Identity Card
8. Solemn Declaration (electronically from www.gov.gr) that they do not fall under any of the impediments of paragraph 9 of article 173 of Law 4957/2022.

Those selected will then have to submit:

1) Certificate of marital status.

2) Health Certification for employment in the State with presentation of opinions:

                a) pathologist or general practitioner and

                b) a psychiatrist, either public or private, following a reference document from the service with a description of the duties of the position to be filled.

3) Copy of criminal record for judicial use,

4) Certificate (type A) from the competent Military Service Office, which shows that the candidate has no military or financial obligations or that he has been legally exempted from them and

5) Birth certificate

 Citizens of a member state of the European Union are required to submit, in addition to the above supporting documents, a degree or post-graduate certificate of Greek AEI studies, or a Greek Lyceum or sixth form Gymnasium certificate or a certificate of Greek proficiency of level 4 from the Greek Language center, from which it will be proven full knowledge and comfortable use of the Greek language.

Objections to the selection of authorized teachers can be submitted within five (5) calendar days from the posting of the results of the judgments on the website of the Department www.med.uth.gr

Academic criteria (necessary qualifications) for the selection authorized teachers of art. 173 of Law 4957/2022 (A΄141), with a fixed-term private law employment contract:  

1. Relevance. The relevance of the overall work of the candidates to the subject under notice is examined.
2. Studies. The relevance and rating of the candidate's doctoral degree with the subject to be taught is examined. Relevant postgraduate degrees, post-doctoral research, the existence of scholarships are reviewed and scored.
3. Publications. Original publications related to the announced position in internationally recognized scientific journals, books/monographs, chapters in books/collective volumes, edited scientific volumes, papers in proceedings of recognized international or national scientific conferences, announcements in recognized scientific conferences are included.
4. Teaching experience. The teaching work in higher education is valued, preferably independent and/or supplementary, depending on the educational needs of the departments and the nature of the courses to be taught.
5. Research project. Certified participation in funded research programs, or collaboration with research institutions and laboratories in subjects related to the academic subject to be taught, or as this is presumed from the candidate's publications, is considered.
6. Professional work. The recognized professional work related to the academic subject of the advertised position is taken into account.
7. Scientific/academic recognition. Recognition of published work (including number of publications, h-index, citations, etc.), awards, patents, member of editorial boards of recognized scientific journals, reviewer of recognized scientific journals, member of scientific committees of recognized scientific conferences is appreciated.
