POSITION DESCRIPTION The scope of the advertised position of physician includes research and teaching work on issues of health care provision and disease management in the community, with emphasis on the study, implementation and evaluation of disease prevention interventions, health promotion and improvement of access to and quality of Primary Health Care (PHC) services. Preventive actions may fall within the framework of primary, secondary and tertiary prevention, both at the individual and population level. At the same time, prevention refers to issues of measuring and evaluating the health status of the population, identifying risk factors and reducing morbidity and its complications, using telemedicine programs and interconnection with other levels of care. The subject matter may include the study, epidemiological monitoring and laboratory investigation of infectious diseases, the management of antimicrobial resistance and the contribution of laboratory data to public health decision-making. Particular emphasis is placed on the collaboration of clinical and laboratory services for the prevention and control of diseases in the community and in primary health care. In addition, the position holder will participate in scientific research for the evaluation, design and implementation of integrated and unified primary health care services, the development of lifelong education and training programs for health professionals in the context of primary health care and the development of educational programs for community health. The position holder may also contribute to the development and evaluation of infection surveillance programs, vaccination coverage and antimicrobial policy, as well as to the teaching of public health issues, in the context of preventive medicine. Finally, the position holder will contribute to the education of medical students, to the scientific foundation of prevention and primary care, as well as to the development of research and educational programs that strengthen the role of primary health care in the context of the National Health System.
