HelMSIC – Update on the “Hands” program

HelMSIC, in the context of its involvement with Human Rights and access to the Health system, is organizing the Hands program for the 15th year in collaboration with Doctors of the World.

This is a program that aims to inform and raise awareness among medical students about the obstacles and difficulties faced by vulnerable social groups when accessing the health system. With the visits to the open polyclinics of the Doctors of the World in Athens and Thessaloniki, familiarizing them with their space as well as with minimal resources medicine.

The program includes:

  • An introductory online speech by the Doctors of the World with the aim of informing and raising students' awareness of the obstacles faced by vulnerable social groups when accessing the health system and how this is achieved and finally familiarizing them with the spaces of Polyclinics.

  • Voluntary training of students in the open polyclinics of Doctors of the World. In this, students have the possibility to configure the training program in the various clinics according to their interests.

The program is aimed at 3rd year medical students and above.

There is no participation fee, the only conditions are the will to participate and consistency.

Certificates of participation are given to people who complete at least 6 visits to the open polyclinics. However, the number of visits is not limiting as a person can continue to go to more visits if they wish.
