Classes and clinical exercises begin on Monday, September 22, 2025
- Lectures-Exercises
The lesson "Orthopaedic Surgery" is taught in 2 semesters:
- 7th semester of Orthopedics: Diseases of the Musculoskeletal System.
- 8th semester of Orthopedics: Trauma of the Musculoskeletal System.
Lectures
Lectures are held every Monday from 13.00-14.30 in the PGNL amphitheater, on the ground floor of the University Hospital. Participation in lectures is mandatory, with the right to 2 absences, and is monitored.
Attendances are taken until 13.15.
If you arrive after 1:15 p.m., please send an email to the Orthopaedics secretariat (ortho-uth@uth.gr) at the same time and the granting of attendance will be appreciated by the faculty members.
The first lesson will be on Monday 22 September 2025.
To check attendance at the first lecture, Monday 22/09/2025 at 13.00 in the amphitheater of the Larissa National University of Science and Technology, You must have your student ID with you, in order to be identified with the corresponding list sent by the Department's secretariat.
Also, the Monday 22 September 2025 the clinical exercise will be carried out, according to the table below and the attached file.

Exercises
- The exercises are carried out in groups of 5 people in the clinic, I.I., T.E.P. and intraclinical course as follows:
- Participation in intraclinical courses in the Orthopedic Clinic library: every Monday from 8.00-10.00, group of 5 people.
- Practice at the clinic every Monday from 10.00-12.00, group of 5 people.
- Exercise in the Emergency Department or Outpatient Clinics every Monday from 10.00-12.00, group of 5 people.
- Exercise in the Emergency Department every Friday, Saturday or Sunday (depending on duty) and hours 8.00-14.00 or 16.00-22.00, groups of 5 people.
- Practice in the operating room, group of 2 people, in consultation with the responsible Professor of the operating room group.
Regarding attendance at the operating room, the students are divided into groups of 22 people and a representative of each group consults with the respective supervising Professor (Th. Karachalio, Z. Dailiana, S. Varitimidis, M. Hande, G. Komno and A. Koutalo) about the dates of the surgeries and attendance. 2 people only in each operation. Each student must have at least 1 presence in the operating room.

- Student obligations include:
- one (1) mandatory presence at the clinic per semester (maximum number of students: 5),
- one (1) mandatory attendance at intraclinical courses per year (maximum number of students: 5),
- one (1) mandatory attendance at Outpatient Clinics (OPC) per semester (maximum number of students: 5),
- one (1)-two (2) mandatory attendances in the emergency department (ED) per semester, a total of 3 mandatory attendances in the ED per year (maximum number of students in the ED: 5), on Monday and Friday-Saturday-Sunday, when the hospital is on call.
- a (1) mandatory presence in the operating room per semester, in consultation with the responsible faculty member (maximum number of students per operating room: 2).
In addition to participation in lectures and clinical exercises, attendance at the afternoon postgraduate seminars (4.00pm-8.00pm) organized by the Orthopaedic Clinic on regular dates and involving scientific meetings with invited speakers, scientists of international standing, is mandatory. For the current semester, mandatory is the participation of students in the afternoon postgraduate seminar (4.00pm-8.00pm) of the Orthopedic Clinic with their invited speakers Professors M. Bhandari and N. Certificate of attendance
Attendance will be recorded on the special attendance card.
Please collect the special attendance and clinical practice card from the Orthopaedic Clinic secretariat at the General Hospital (B wing, 3o floor) from the Tuesday to Friday 23-26/9 and hours 10.00-13.30.
Groups 1,2,3 and 4, who have practice on Monday 22/9, please come for the special attendance card on Friday 19/9, 10.00-14.00, and Monday 22/9, 8.00-10.00am.
For the special card, you must provide - in any case - a recent photo and your student ID.
Without the photo, the card will not be delivered.
ATTENTION: The presences in exercises/internship courses are certified by the signature of the faculty member or NSY supervisor responsible for each exercise ONLY on the special business card and ONLY on the day of the exercise.
- Signatures from specialists They will NOT be accepted and the exercise will be repeated.
Other clarifications
- Students who will attend the course, please SUBMIT a Registration Request TO THE COURSE ECLASS, in order to receive relevant announcements and updates. In your application to eclass, you must specify that you are a 7th year student.u ex (or 4u year) or previous semester you will attend the course, or a student who owes the course. Your acceptance will take place after Thursday 18/9/2025.
- Students from previous semesters who will be attending the course DISEASES of the MUSCULOSKELETAL SYSTEM in the current semester and TRAUMA of the MUSCULOSKELETAL SYSTEM in the spring semester, please notify us by email. ortho-uth@uth.gr, until Sunday 21/9/2025, in order to be included in a clinical practice group.
- In case you wish (or it arises at some point during the semester) to make a mutual exchange with a fellow student from another group, you must first send an email to the Orthopedic Clinic secretariat at ortho-uth@uth.gr, to receive approval.
- Finally, for all issues/questions/questions that arise and concern your study at the Orthopedic Clinic of the University of Thessaly, please send mail in the ortho-uth@uth.gr
