ANNOUNCEMENT OF ELECTION PROCEEDINGS

for the nomination of student representatives and their deputies at the Assembly of

Department of Medicine, Faculty of Medicine, University of Thessaly with a term of office from 01.01.2025 to 31.12.2025

The President of the Department of Medicine, bearing in mind:

1. The provisions of articles 29, 40,42,76,412 and 413 of Law 4957/2022 (Government Gazette 141/21.07.2022)
2. The provisions of article 8 of CHAPTER B, of 123024/Ζ1/06.10.2022 Joint Ministerial Decree of the Ministers of Education and Religious Affairs and State "PROCEDURE FOR THE APPOINTMENT OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE TEACHING RESEARCH STAFF (D.E.P.), SPECIAL EDUCATIONAL STAFF (E.E.P.), LABORATORY TEACHING STAFF (E.D.P.) AND SPECIAL TECHNICAL LABORATORY STAFF (E.P.) T .E.P.) AND STUDENT REPRESENTATIVES" (Official Gazette 5220/t. B΄/07.10.2022),

The document with the number: 141011/Ζ1/14.11.2022 of the Secretary General of Higher Education of the Ministry of Education and Religious Affairs with the subject: "Question regarding the process of appointing students to the collective bodies of HEIs. after the publication of the joint ministerial decision numbered 123024/Z1/6.10.2022 entitled "Determination of the procedure for appointing the single-member bodies of the Single-Departmental Schools, Departments, Sectors and other single-member bodies of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), the representatives of the members of the Teaching and Research Staff (DEP), Special Educational Staff (EEP), Laboratory Teaching Staff (EDIP), Special Technical Laboratory Staff (ETEP) and students to the collective bodies of HEIs" (B' 5220)".

8. Official Gazette 785/YODD/31-12-2022 regarding the election of the President and Deputy President of the Department of Medicine of the School of Health Sciences of the University of Thessaly for a term of two (2) years from 1-9-2022 to 31-8-2024.
9. The document no. 6948/24/ΓΠ/08.04.2024 of the Administrative Directorate of the University of Thrace on the subject: "Three-year term of office of Presidents and Vice-Presidents of Departments of the University of Thrace."’

He proclaims 

Elections on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, with starting time 9.00 a.m. -2.00 p.m. for the election of student representatives and their alternates to the Assembly of the Department of Medicine, SEY, University of Thessaly with a term of office from 01.01.2025 to 31.12.2025.

The elections will be held by universal, direct and secret voting, carried out exclusively electronically through the special information system called "ZEUS Digital Ballot" of the Greek public limited company, under the name "National Network of Technology and Research Infrastructures S.A. » (EDYTE S.A.), according to Official Gazette 5220/t.B΄/07.10.2022.

Interested candidates should submit their candidacy, at their request exclusively electronically, to the Secretariat of the Department of Medicine, at the email address g-med@uth.gr, from Monday, September 30, 2024 until Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at 2:30 p.m. Any candidate may withdraw from their candidacy. The withdrawal is made by written declaration, exclusively electronically to the email address g-med@uth.gr, which is submitted to the competent body for the issuance of the notice in accordance with its terms and is immediately forwarded to the Elections Conducting Body (ODE), no later than the tenth day before the voting is held.

All students of the first, second and third cycle study programs have the right to submit a candidacy for the position of student representative in the Department Assembly, provided that during the announced term they do not exceed the minimum duration of the study program according to its founding decision. In particular, doctoral candidates have the right to submit a candidacy provided that during the announced term the minimum duration of three (3) years from the date of their registration is not completed. The candidacies are submitted by interested parties to the Department Secretariat, within the deadline specified by the announcement. The candidacies are submitted before the competent body for the issuance of the announcement and are forwarded to the Elections Body (O.D.E.)

The electoral body for the nomination of student representatives to the Department Assembly or the Single-Department School Assembly consists of: a) all students of the first-cycle study programs of the Department, who have not exceeded the maximum duration of study in accordance with paragraph 1 of article 76 of Law 4957/2022, b) all students of the Department's Postgraduate Studies Programs (P.S.) who have not exceeded the minimum duration of the study program, in accordance with the decision of its establishment and the P.S. Regulations, and c) all doctoral candidates of the Department who have not completed three (3) years from their registration. First and second cycle study programs are considered to be those that are organized exclusively by the Department or in collaboration with other Departments of the same or another Higher Educational Institution (HEI), provided that the Department undertakes their administrative support.

The electoral rolls are compiled by the competent administrative department of the AEI, and include the following information: first name, last name, student registration number, email address, Department or Single-Department School and the cycle of the study program that the voter is studying (first, second or third). The electoral rolls are delivered to the Elections Body (ODE) and may be posted anonymously on the website of the academic unit so that each voter can check whether he is included in them. If a voter finds that he is not included in the electoral rolls, while he has the right to participate in the electoral process, he may submit a request to the ODE of par. 5 in order to be included in the electoral roll. The ODE by its decision, it accepts or rejects the request with justification.

For each election process, a three-member Electoral Committee consisting of three (3) regular and an equal number of alternate members is designated as the Election Conducting Body (ECB). Under the supervision of the body responsible for issuing the notice in accordance with par. 1, an electronic draw is conducted to select the members of the Electoral Committee from among all the students who make up the electoral body, excluding those students who have already submitted their candidacy at the time of the draw. If any of the members drawn submits their candidacy, the alternate member takes their place. If the members of the electoral committee who were drawn refuse or are prevented from performing their duties or have submitted a candidacy, the electronic lottery process is repeated again and the students who refused or declared an impediment or have submitted a candidacy are excluded from the lottery.

The maximum number of preference crosses per voter may not exceed half of the number of elective positions of student representatives. Those who received the highest number of votes until the number of elective positions is filled are elected as representatives, and in any case one (1) from each cycle of studies, provided that the Department organizes study programs for each cycle and candidacies have been submitted by candidates from all three cycles of studies. The remaining candidates are elected as alternate representatives in the order of the number of votes they received during the election process.

If there is a tie among the candidates, an electronic draw is held using the ZEUS system between those who voted equally.

If the process proves unsuccessful, it will be repeated on Friday, November 8, 2024, from 09:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. (Greece time), in accordance with the provisions of Joint Ministerial Decision No. 123024/Ζ1/06.10.2022 (Β΄ 5220).

The term of office of student representatives in the collective bodies of academic units begins 01.01.2025 and expires 31.12.2025.

The announcement for the nomination of student representatives to the Department Assembly will be posted on the website of the Institution and the Department.
