Students who were enrolled in first-cycle study programs of HEIs, at the time of the entry into force of Law 4777/2021 and had exceeded the minimum duration of study of the study program, have time equal to the minimum duration of study to complete their studies. from the start of the academic year 2021-2022 onwards, without the right to an increase of the study period according to par. 1 of article 76 of Law 4957/2022, as amended by article 130 of Law 5224/2025 and in force.

  2. Students who, during the academic year 2020-2021, were studying in Departments of a 4-year study program in a year of study equal to or greater than 5u (i.e. students admitted in the academic year 2016-2017 and earlier) they have the ability to complete their studies in the academic year 2024-2025 including the re-examination period of September 2025.

*When calculating the maximum duration of study for the above students, cases of students who had enrolled in a part-time study regime or had exercised the right to interrupt/suspend their studies should be taken into account.

** For students who have enrolled in first-cycle study programs after placement exams and the relevant Academic Department has classified them retroactively (e.g. in the 3rd semester of study instead of the 1st semester), the (n) years of study are counted and calculated from the year of their classification and not from the year of their enrollment.

  1. Students who were admitted to the former TEIs of Thessaly and Central Greece, completed the curriculum of the TEI Department and chose to join a University Department, in order to obtain a university degree, have time to complete their studies equal to the minimum duration of study at the university department, which is calculated from the academic year of their enrollment in it.

  2. For the above students (cases 1 to 3) who complete the maximum duration of study and do not become graduates/diplomas within the framework of the September 2025 examination period, automatic deletion from the Department or the Study Program occurs two (2) months after the posting of the results of the September 2025 examination, unless the interested student submits an extension request in accordance with the following under (5):

  3. The time of completion of studies beyond the end of the September 2025 examination period extended for two (2) additional academic semesters, upon submission of an application, to students who meet the following conditions (a) and (b) cumulatively, as follows:

    a) at the time of application, they have successfully completed at least seventy percent (70%) of the credit units (ECTS) of the current study program and

    b) have participated in at least two (2) academic tests according to the curriculum, one of which was successfully completed, such as a course examination, thesis defense, internship, in one of the four (4) previous academic semesters prior to submitting the application (i.e. from the January 2024 examination period up to and including the September 2025 examination period).

    • If the curriculum includes the mandatory completion of an internship or a bachelor's or master's thesis, which has not been completed, and the above conditions (a) and (b) are met, the duration of study is extended for three (3) academic semesters.

    • For students who have been successfully evaluated in all courses of the current curriculum and only the preparation of an internship or a thesis or dissertation for obtaining a degree/diploma is pending Participation in two academic tests, one of which must be successfully passed in one of the four (4) previous academic semesters, is not required for the extension of studies. In this case, the extension period is three academic semesters and concerns the completion of the pending stage of preparing an internship or a thesis or dissertation for obtaining a degree/diploma.

    • The application for the extension of the time to complete studies beyond the end of the September 2025 examination period is submitted to the Department Secretariat. (or PS of the former TEIs), within an exclusive period of thirty (30) days from the issuance of the scores for the September 2025 examination period.

    • During the extension, it is not possible to submit an application for partial attendance and to interrupt attendance.

* Students who have a certified disability of at least fifty percent (50%) are exempt from the regulation of the maximum duration of study and mandatory withdrawal.

** Exceptionally, a student may, under the conditions of par. 4 of article 76 of law 4957/2022 (A'141), request to exceed the maximum duration of study for serious health reasons attributable to the student or to a first-degree blood relative or spouse or person with whom the student has entered into a cohabitation agreement.
