"Analgesia and Palliative / Palliative Care"
The Department of Medicine of the School of Health Sciences of the University of Thessaly announces the start of the submission of applications for the academic year 2026-2027 of the Postgraduate Studies Program (P.S.) entitled "Pain and Palliative/Compassionate Care"«
The mission of the Postgraduate Program in "Pain and Palliative/Compassionate Care" is to cultivate and promote, through academic and applied teaching and research, the high-level education of researchers and health professionals in the diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic pain, as well as in the provision of scientifically proven knowledge for the palliative/compassionate care of patients facing the end of their lives. It provides its Graduates with the necessary equipment that will ensure their excellent training for their academic scientific and research careers in the United Europe.
Graduates of Medical Departments of the Schools of Health Sciences of domestic universities or equivalent institutions abroad are accepted as Postgraduate Students (MS) in the Postgraduate Program, as well as graduates of other university departments and former technical and vocational colleges related to the subject of the Program, such as dentistry, nursing, as well as other departments of psychosocial direction and Public Health such as psychology, social work, physiotherapy, etc.
For the selection of candidates for the P.M.S. their special qualifications are taken into account, as they emerge from the supporting documents submitted within the prescribed deadlines with their candidacy file, as well as the proposal of the competent Selection Committee.

The P.M.S. "Analgesia and Palliative/Palliative Care" is full attendance. The duration of studies for the award of the D.M.S. is three (3) academic semesters.
Tuition fees are set at 2,500 euros for the entire duration of studies and are paid in three installments (First Semester, upon registration: 1000 euros, Second Semester: 1000 euros, Third Semester: 500 euros).
To obtain the Postgraduate Diploma, students must accumulate 90 Credit Units (ECTS) in total, from attendance and examination as well as from the preparation of a postgraduate thesis. Students must attend ten (10) compulsory courses.
The P.M.S. courses are held once (1) per month, Friday afternoon and Saturday. The language of instruction of the P.M.S. is Greek and/or English. The language of preparation of the thesis can be both Greek and English (upon relevant application). The courses are held both in person and through distance learning in accordance with the legal provisions and the course program, as posted on the P.M.S. website. Specifically, three (3) of the courses are held mandatorily in person in Larissa and the rest online.
The selection of students for the Postgraduate Program is made following an evaluation of their supporting documents. Interested parties can submit their application electronically via email or alternatively by post to the Postgraduate Program Secretariat. until Sunday, June 14, 2026.
The file will contain the following supporting documents:
- Application for Participation (at the Secretariat and on the PMS website).
- Detailed curriculum vitae (according to the model you will find on the PMS website).
- Copy of diploma or certificate that the candidate has fulfilled his educational obligations. In the case of graduates of foreign universities, the provisions of article 304 of Law 4957/2022 apply and they must provide a certificate of the place of study.
- Copy of the Detailed Gradebook.
- Scientific publications, distinctions, and evidence of research activity (if any).
- Evidence of professional experience (if any).
- A letter of recommendation.
- Photocopy of two sides of the police ID.
- Mandatory proof of knowledge of the English language (or relevant equivalent) and optional proof of knowledge of other foreign languages.
- An ID photo in digital format.
