"NUTRITION IN HEALTH AND ILLNESS"

INVITATION FOR EXPRESSION OF INTEREST

The Department of Medicine of the University of Thessaly invites interested parties to submit applications for the Postgraduate Studies Program (P.S.) "Nutrition in Health and Disease" for the academic year 2026-2027.
The postgraduate studies in the above P.M.S. lead to obtaining a Master's Degree Diploma "Nutrition in Health and Disease", after a 3-semester study cycle, in the Greek language, which includes the attendance of postgraduate courses, the preparation of a diploma thesis and an internship, with a total of 90 credits (ECTS).
The study program in the semesters is as follows:

1st semester
1. The balanced diet. Assessment of nutritional disorders and deficiencies (ECTS:5)
2. Population dietary patterns. Food preservatives, preservation, freezing, canning, genetically modified (ECTS:5)
3. Dietary factors and nutritional disorders in diseases of the digestive tract, liver and pancreas (ECTS:5)
4. Dietary factors and nutritional disorders in diseases of the nervous, respiratory, cardiovascular systems and in diseases of the kidneys, ureters and bladder (ECTS:5)
5. Dietary factors and nutritional disorders in psychiatric, endocrinological, ophthalmological diseases and diseases of the musculoskeletal system and skin (ECTS:5)
6. Dietary factors and eating disorders in pregnancy, children, the elderly and patients hospitalized in ICUs (ECTS:5)

2nd semester
1. Obesity, morbid obesity, bariatrics (ECTS: 6)
2. Therapeutic treatment of nutritional disorders and deficiencies (ECTS: 6)
3. Dietary supplements, probiotics, eubiotics, enteral and parenteral nutrition preparations (ECTS: 6)
4. Research Methodology (ECTS: 2)
5. Preparation of a Master's Thesis (ECTS: 10)

3rd semester
1. Internship (ECTS: 10)
2. Postgraduate Specialization Thesis (ECTS: 20)

TOTAL: 90 ECTS

The start of the P.M.S. courses will take place in October 2026 and part of the courses will be carried out remotely.

The tuition fees amount to 3,000 euros (€1,000 upon the announcement of the results, €1,000 before the start of the 2nd semester, 500€ upon the start of the Diploma Thesis and 500€ before the start of the 3rd semester).
The Postgraduate Program accepts graduates from university departments in Greece or from recognized equivalent institutions abroad, such as Medicine, Nutrition and Dietetics, Nursing, Midwifery, Veterinary Medicine, Pharmacy, Dentistry, Physical Education and Sports Science, Psychology, Food Technology, Medical Laboratory Technologists, Physiotherapy, Speech Therapy, Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry and Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Agriculture, Health Visitors, Public Health, Radiology and Radiotherapy, Pedagogical departments, as well as graduates from other departments of former ATEI of a related subject. Also, holders of a foreign university degree from the registers of DOATAP are admitted in accordance with the provisions of article 304 of law 4957/2022. Also, graduates of universities and former ATEIs of other specialties are admitted under the conditions of additional criteria and consideration of proven professional and research experience relevant to the subject of the P.M.S., following a decision of the S.C. and ratification by the S.T.
The selection process will be based on the application files and will be carried out using criteria such as the degree level, knowledge of foreign languages (especially English), possession of other postgraduate degrees, professional and any research activity (publications in scientific journals, announcements at conferences), letters of recommendation, the relevance of the undergraduate (or other postgraduate) studies to the subject of the M.A.S., as well as relevant professional experience. After the evaluation of the file, candidates will be invited to a personal interview by the members of the Postgraduate Student Selection Committee.

2. Detailed Curriculum Vitae with details of the candidate's studies, research and professional experience (to attach the evidence of the mentioned previous service, publications & communications, if any)

3. Copy of diploma or degree or a certificate that they have completed their studies or a certificate that the candidate is expected to graduate by the start of the courses.
4. Copy of detailed score
5. Evidence of foreign languages (and especially English)
6. One to two letters of recommendation by University teachers, researchers, employers etc
7. Photocopy of the police ID or the passport
8. Recent ID photo (to be attached to the application)
9. Responsible Declaration, stating that all the above supporting documents are exact copies of the originals (issued through Gov.gr or bearing the original signature)
