2THE INVITATION FOR EXPRESSION OF INTEREST
The Department of Medicine of the University of Thessaly invites interested parties to apply to attend the Master's Program (M.S.) "Nutrition in Health and Disease" for the academic year 2024-2025.
The postgraduate studies in the above P.M.S. lead to obtaining a Master's Degree Diploma "Nutrition in Health and Disease", after a 3-semester study cycle, in the Greek language, which includes the attendance of postgraduate courses, the preparation of a diploma thesis and an internship, with a total of 90 credits (ECTS).
The study program in the semesters is as follows:
1The six months
- The balanced diet. Assessment of Eating Disorders and Deficits (ECTS:5)
- Population dietary patterns. Food preservatives, preservation, freezing, canning, modified (ECTS:5)
- Dietary factors and nutritional disorders in diseases of the digestive tract, liver and pancreas (ECTS:5)
- Dietary factors and nutritional disorders in diseases of the nervous, respiratory, cardiovascular system and in diseases of the kidneys, ureters and bladder (ECTS:5)
- Dietary factors and nutritional disorders in psychiatric, endocrinological, ophthalmological diseases and diseases of the musculoskeletal system and skin (ECTS:5)
- Dietary factors and eating disorders in pregnancy, children, the elderly and ICU patients (ECTS:5)
2The six months
- Obesity, morbid obesity, bariatric (ECTS: 6)
- Therapeutic treatment of eating disorders and deficits (ECTS: 6)
- Dietary supplements, probiotics, eubiotics, enteral and parenteral nutrition preparations (ECTS: 6)
- Research Methodology (ECTS: 2)
- Master's Thesis Preparation (ECTS: 10)
3The six months
- Internship (ECTS: 10)
- Master's Thesis (ECTS: 20)
TOTAL: 90 ECTS
The start of the P.M.S. will take place in October 2024 and part of the courses will be held remotely.
The tuition fees amount to 3,000 euros (€1,000 upon the announcement of the results, €1,000 before the start of the 2nd semester, 500€ upon the start of the Diploma Thesis and 500€ before the start of the 3rd semester).
In P.M.S. university graduates and former university graduates (or university graduates, if they graduate by October 2024) of Health Sciences, Applied Sciences, Agricultural Sciences, Chemistry, Environment and other University Departments of the country or corresponding departments abroad are accepted, graduates of other related to subject of the Program Departments HEIs and former HEIs, as well as graduates of other HEIs and former HEIs working in areas related to diet, nutrition and food.
The selection process will be based on the application files and will be based on criteria such as degree level, knowledge of foreign languages (especially English), possession of other postgraduate degrees, professional and any research activity (publications in scientific journals, announcements at conferences ), the letters of recommendation, the relevance of the undergraduate (or other postgraduate) studies to the subject of the P.M.S, as well as the relevant professional experience. In some cases candidates may be invited to a personal interview by members of the Graduate Student Selection Committee.

- Detailed Curriculum Vitae with details of the candidate's studies, research and professional experience (to attach the evidence of the mentioned previous service, publications & communications, if any)

- Copy of diploma or degree or a certificate that they have completed their studies or a certificate that the candidate is expected to graduate by the start of the courses.
- Copy of detailed score
- Evidence of foreign languages (and especially English)
- One to two letters of recommendation by University teachers, researchers, employers etc
- Photocopy of the police ID or the passport
- Recent photo identity card (to be attached to the application)
- Responsible Statement, stating that all the above supporting documents are exact copies of the originals (to have been issued through Gov.gr or to bear the original signature)

Those candidates who are accepted, should present all the above supporting documents in paper form, when registering at the PMS.
