The Department of Medicine of the University of Thessaly announces the announcement of a new series of positions in the Postgraduate Studies Program (MPS) entitled "Modern Prevention and Treatment of Pediatric Diseases" and invites interested parties to apply for the academic year 2024 – 2025.
The MSc "Modern Prevention and Treatment of Pediatric Diseases" in the discipline "Pediatrics" aims to expand studies at postgraduate level and to provide high quality a) theoretical knowledge and clinical experience regarding the modern prevention and treatment of pediatric diseases with a focus on prevention but also diseases that require specialized knowledge and concern pediatric specializations as well as b) theoretical and applied knowledge in research. The program is governed by the Graduate Studies Regulations of the University of Thessaly.
Purpose of the Master's Program "Modern Prevention and Treatment of Pediatric Diseases" are:
- The training and specialization of young scientists in the field of Pediatrics and Pediatric specializations.
- The in-depth, thorough and based on the most modern bibliographic data training of the new scientific potential.
- The provision of the necessary supplies that will lead to research for the production of new knowledge on the part of the trainees.
- Creating scientists with the required skills for successful careers in the private, public and academic sectors.
- The preparation for postgraduate studies at the doctoral level
The selection of students is made in accordance with the provisions of Law 4957/2022 and this Regulation.
In P.M.S. "Modern Prevention and Treatment of Pediatric Diseases» University and T.E.I. graduates are accepted. of the country or holders of equivalent foreign qualifications recognized by D.O.A.T.A.P./DIKATSA, coming from the Departments of Medicine, Nursing, Midwifery, Health Visitors, Physiotherapy, Social Work and other health sciences and other departments or schools with related subjects.
Students from foreign institutions must provide a certificate of correspondence and equivalence from the competent DOATAP degree recognition body. In case of not having this certificate, the verification of the recognition of the foreign institution and of the degree granted by the foreign institution is done by the University of Thessaly since the above are included in the National Register of Recognized Foreign Institutions and in the National Register of Degree Types of Recognized Institutions Foreigner, in accordance with the provisions of article 304 of Law 4957/2022.
Also, HEI and ATEI graduates of other specialties are accepted under the conditions of additional criteria and consideration of proven professional and research experience related to the subject of the P.M.S., after a decision of the S.E. and validation by ST
A prerequisite for the selection is sufficient knowledge of the English language in addition to the language of the P.M.S.
The number of admitted students is defined as an upper limit ta thirty (30) people per year.
The P.M.S. "Modern Prevention and Treatment of Pediatric Diseases» is structured in four (4) academic semesters, which include courses, practical training (first, second, third semesters) and preparation of a diploma thesis. The total number of credits (ECTS) required to obtain the Postgraduate Diploma (M.D.S.) is one hundred and twenty (120) ECTS.

Tuition is paid in installments in four installments of eight hundred euros (€800.00) at the beginning of each semester. The total tuition fees for all four (4) semesters of the P.M.S. amounts to the amount of three thousand and two hundred euros (€3,200.00)
The courses are carried out with a mixed system (Blended Learning) using modern distance education methods. Postgraduate Students are obliged to attend lectures and other activities provided for each course.
They start in the first ten days of October for the winter semester and in the first ten days of February for the spring semester and end with the end of the academic semester. They are scheduled to take place on Friday and Saturday for the convenience of working students.
A detailed course schedule will be announced before the start of the academic semester.
The internship of postgraduate students takes place in the two wards of the Pediatric Clinic (Ward A and B), in the Intensive Care Unit for Children, in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, in the Children's ICU, in the Obstetrics Clinic where normal newborns are treated instead of the bed of the of their mothers and in the outpatient clinics (TEP, Regular Clinic, Immunization Clinic, Pediatric Neurology, Pediatric Pulmonology, Pediatric Allergology, Neonatal, Pediatric and Adolescent Endocrinology Clinic, Pediatric Gastroenterology Clinic, Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics Clinic and High Risk Newborn Monitoring Clinic). The internship may also be carried out in a Pediatric Clinic of another Public or Private Hospital whose subject is Pediatrics and/or its specializations or in a Primary Health Care structure that deals with the subject of Pediatrics.
28 hours of Internship must be completed in each of the first three semesters of study. Students who live outside of Larissa can, upon consultation, organize their training near their place of residence.

Justificatory:

- Detailed CV with data on the candidate's studies, research and professional experience, with the corresponding evidence (according to the model you will find on the PMS website -> Candidates-> Forms https://msc-pediatrics.med.uth.gr/documents).
- Copy of diploma or degree or certificate that the candidate is expected to graduate by the day classes begin. In the case of foreign University graduates, a certificate of recognition from DIKATSA/DOATAP must be submitted (the academic recognition procedures of Article 304 of Law 4957/2022 apply).
- Photocopy of both sides of the police ID or passport.
- A letter of recommendation
- Scientific publications, awards and evidence of research activity(if any)
- Evidence of professional experience(if any)
- Proof of knowledge of foreign languages
- One photo ID
- Responsible Declaration of Law 1599/86"that all supporting documents are exact copies of originals".
- Responsible Declaration of Law 1599/86 in which he/she will declare that he/she is not registered in another PMS of another Department
The evaluation of the graduate student candidates who have submitted the required supporting documents, within the stipulated deadlines, is done by the Graduate Student Selection Committee in cooperation with the Coordinating Committee in three (3) phases:
Phase I – Verification of supporting documents
Phase B – Grading of the criteria
Phase III – Oral Interview
The successful candidates are invited to respond in writing within seven (7) days whether or not they accept their inclusion in the P.M.S. accepting its terms of operation. Failure to respond by a selected candidate within the above deadline is equivalent to a refusal to accept the position at the P.M.S.
