Objective Objectives/Desired Results: According to the World Health Organization, mental illness is becoming more common, while disability in the population related to mental illness has already exceeded disability related to physical illness, and the gap is expected to increase in the future. It is therefore important that all medical students acquire a thorough training in Psychiatry, as they will need it in their future practice, regardless of which specialty they choose.

Psychiatry is perhaps the most complex clinical specialty, as it requires high interdisciplinarity and creative clinical thinking, based on evidence-based medicine and excellent training in theory. The course Psychiatry II is a natural continuation of Psychiatry I and aims to develop the necessary knowledge and mentality that governs clinical Psychiatry, which will prepare students for their clinical practice.

The course includes detailed lectures on the treatment of mental disorders. Both pharmacotherapy and other biological treatments, as well as modern psychotherapeutic methods used in clinical psychiatry, are thoroughly developed. Also, the principles of the main subspecialties of Psychiatry are taught: Psychogeriatrics, Child Psychiatry, Mental Retardation, Interdisciplinary Psychiatry and Addiction Psychiatry.
