Teaching Method: |
- Student hours are 8.30am-2.30pm.
- The students attend the "morning report" (8.30-9.30am), participate - divided into groups of 2-3 people per specialist doctor - in visiting patients, each being responsible for at least 1 patient. They then participate in the visit with the specialist doctor and the corresponding specialist doctors, as well as the visit of the Clinic Director (or his substitute) with all the Clinic's doctors, where all patients are presented.
- For 1 week (in rotation) the students observe and participate in the daily operation of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
- Every week (in rotation) they also monitor the operation of the Clinic's outpatient clinics, based on a schedule.
- Each student presents in PowerPoint an interesting case they choose with the guidance and supervision of a Clinic faculty member or present a literature review on a pediatric topic of their choice.
- The noon zone (13.30-2.30) includes the tutorials, the presentation of cases by the students and any educational event the Clinic has.
- During the two months students are obliged to attend 8 4 hours of general duty, on different days each, according to the schedule.
- Students are also required to participate in the clinic's scientific events (eg Pediatric Symposium of Central Greece, etc.).
- At the end of the two-month period, the representative of the students during the two-month period delivers to the person in charge of the course: a) a form with certified attendance of the Clinic on-calls by the doctor in charge of each on-call b) a CD with all case presentations by students
- Each student has the right to be absent 2 days in the 8 weeks of clinical practice. Absences beyond this limit are not accepted.

Evaluation Method: |
It is done taking into account:
- The presentation of an incident that each student has done
- Its performance during clinical practice
Oral examination of all the Pediatrics material after the end of the Clinical Practice.

Objective Objectives/Desired Results: |
The general purpose of the course is the further theoretical and practical training of medical students in the field of Paediatrics.
The students, who have received the basic knowledge of Paediatrics in the Paediatrics I and Paediatrics II courses in 9The and 10The semester, through clinical practice for 8 weeks they will be able to present pediatric cases hospitalized in the Clinic, examine and perform simple medical operations.
The specific objectives of the course are specialized in the following intended learning outcomes:
- Possibility of presenting the history of a hospitalized patient
- Ability to evaluate clinical laboratory findings
- Presentation of the daily progress of hospitalized patients
- Ability of diagnostic approach and differential diagnosis
- Learning treatments for common pediatric diseases
- Selection of the clinical laboratory test required for the patient's diagnostic approach
- Search and review of recent literature
- Case preparation and presentation using recent literature
Upon successful completion of the course, the student will be able to to use the acquired knowledge in order to:
- be able to obtain a detailed pediatric history
- have the ability to comprehensively present the medical history
- have the ability to perform a physical examination on pediatric patients of all ages
- to have the ability to synthesize and analyze information for the purpose of differential diagnosis
- to make use of classic and new diagnostic methods
- to select the clinical laboratory test required for the patient's diagnostic approach
- to be able to perform simple medical procedures, such as blood draws
- to be able to evaluate the outcome course of the disease
- to know the treatment of common pediatric diseases
- to know the treatment of the high-risk newborn
- have the ability to present a medical topic based on recent literature

Course Description / Content:
The subject units included are the material of Pediatrics I and Pediatrics II. Also included in the material is the chapter "Fluids and electrolytes" and the treatments of diseases of Pediatrics. The e-class of the course includes all the main therapeutic protocols of Pediatrics and which are updated based on recent literature. |
