Objective Objectives/Desired Results: The course material aims to introduce students to the Anatomy of the Nervous System.
In this sense, the course is the basis on which the student will acquire fundamental knowledge in the Anatomy of the central and peripheral Nervous System and Sensory Organs as well as the general embryological development of the Nervous System and Sensory Organs.
The student will be exposed to the structures of the human body as represented in the fixed brains, cross-sections of fixed brains in the plastic models of the anatomy lab, and immunohistochemistry images available in the anatomy lab. Upon successful completion of the course the student will be in position to:
Understands and has basic knowledge of Descriptive, Clinical and Functional Neuroanatomy, and in particular, cerebral hemispheres, gray and white matter, neuromuscular synapse, peripheral nerves and plexuses, spinal cord, medulla oblongata, pons, midbrain, midbrain and hindbrain meninges & vessels, ventricles autonomic nervous system, cranial nerves and sensory organs
