Teaching Method: | FACE TO FACE - LECTURES
Face to face and specifically: The teaching of the "ANESTHESIOLOGY" course consists of lectures, clinical and practical training. Attendance at tutorials and exercises is mandatory. The elections based on the clinical scenarios they develop the material described above. The clinical exercises, (in 4 groups of students, 6 teachers per group of 20 students) constitute the clinical exercise of the students, are a necessary supplement to the lectures and aim to familiarize them with the use of techniques, the operation of instruments and the conduct of tests that are often used in anesthesiology, as well as helping to understand concepts that are not easily understood theoretically (practice-based learning) The practical exercises, (in 4 groups of students, 2 teachers per group) recapitulate and deepen the material by using examples of clinical cases (problem-based learning and simulation) that highlight the application of anesthetic knowledge in the diagnosis and treatment of serious diseases. In each practicum, students take a history, practice the clinical examination, apply the clinical skills taught and prepare answers to the questions related to the clinical cases being examined so that they can discuss them with the lecturers. Information and Communication Technologies are used to prepare lecture materials and provide online information and learning aids to students. Specifically:

Evaluation methods. A. In the clinical - practical exercises: The students' participation in the exercises is done with continuous evaluation. Successful participation in the exercise is certified by the teacher's signature. B. In theory – lecture material: Written Exams with multiple choice questions . The exams of the course are written, lasting 2 hours, and consist of multiple-choice, critical or short-answer questions concerning clinical cases depending on those discussed in the courses (examples have been given at the end of each lecture). Examinable material is the material of the lectures as described above. Students who have successfully completed the clinical exercise and attended the required number of lectures have the right to participate in the course exams. The final grade of the course is calculated from the grade of the written exams taking into account the total attendance during the clinical and practical training. |

Objective Objectives/Desired Results: | The course is a key part of the study of anesthesia and its effects on patients with different diseases, while also dealing with the basic principles of pain management and palliative care.
The material of the course aims to understand and become familiar with the fundamental principles and techniques related to the controlled and reversible loss of consciousness or analgesia that every doctor should know, regardless of specialty. It additionally discusses the basics of pain treatment and palliative care, two key topics that all healthcare providers should be able to approach. Learning outcomes are achieved by: a. monitoring the activities of the Anesthesiology Clinic (operating rooms, Postanesthetic Care Unit, Pain Clinic and pre-anaesthetic control) b. BLS (BasicLifeSupport) practice and AED (AutomatedExternalDefibrillator) use according to the modern standards of the ERC (EuropeanResuscitationCouncil) c. ALS practice (AdvancedLifeSupport) according to modern ERC standards d. internship in airway management e. simulation in Anesthesiology Finally, the aim of the course is for the students to understand the importance of the correct execution and assessment of the medical history, physical examination, symptoms and semiology and the corresponding skills required for the correct clinical practice related to the specialty of anesthesiology and in general the clinical specialties, as anesthesiology is in contact with almost all specialties as it requires the management of patients with a variety of comorbidities. Description of the Level of Learning Outcomes according to the Qualifications Framework of the European Higher Education Area (EHEA): Students, after a successful examination, have proven knowledge and understanding of topics in the subject of Anesthesiology (PPS level). The knowledge and skills they acquire are level 6 (1u study cycle) of the European Qualifications Framework (EQF). Upon successful completion of the course, the student will be able to:
