Evaluation Method: Evaluation language:  Greek.

Evaluation methods:  Multiple choice questions (60% of the total mark) and submission, written work with public presentation (40% of the total mark).

The evaluation of the course and the teachers is carried out - at the end of the semester - through the completion by the students of a special questionnaire. Students are encouraged to express their opinions through the questionnaire both on the educational process of the course in question, and on any changes that are necessary in their opinion. Student responses are taken into account in order to make improvements.


Objective Objectives/Desired Results: Upon successful completion of the course students will be able to:

– Describe the relationship of primary health care with the health system and public health

– Become familiar with primary health care approaches to supporting the needs of individuals, families and communities.

– Assess the factors influencing health and well-being in communities.

– Apply the principles of planning primary and community care strategies to individuals, families and communities.

– Understand the influences and challenges in meeting health care needs for individuals, families and communities.

– Communicate effectively when providing care at the patient's first contact with the health system (primary health care, PHY).

Course Description: 1. THEORY
The concept of primary health care and "health for all"

2. WORKSHOPS
The students will be divided into groups and each group will have to design a health education program on a topic of their choice (smoking, nutrition, exercise, obesity, alcohol, polypharmacy, traffic accidents) that will be addressed to a specific target group.

The students will be divided into groups and will visit the pediatric clinics of TOMY Larissa, the Larissa Health Unit in order to observe the vaccination of children and to carry out vaccinations on children themselves. Students will be able to monitor the entry in the national vaccination record.

Students will be divided into groups and each group will have to design a preventive medicine program on a topic of their choice (cervical cancer, breast cancer, colon cancer, dental hygiene, prenatal screening) that will address a specific target group (in KAPI, KDAP, kindergarten, school, Roma, refugees).

The students will be divided into groups and will visit Mental Health structures in Larissa (OKANA, KETHEA, Self-help Program)

It is recommended that the students do clinical practice in a hospital in the Larissa region (Agia Hospital, Gonnon Hospital, Tyrnavou Hospital) for one week. Students will acquire clinical skills in PHC, focusing on the ability to distinguish between patients requiring hospital care and those treated at home and in the Health Center. They will also be exposed to basic emergency medicine management, diagnostic access and treatment of the most common acute and chronic illnesses in the community and home. At the end of the Clinical Exercise, the students will present a paper after collecting data and epidemiological data concerning acute and chronic diseases of the patients of the Health Center.
