Teaching Method: Development of Surgery topics II- Presentation – Commentary on characteristic patient cases – Clinical exercise

Review and analysis of clinical cases from the clinic's information system


Evaluation Method:
  • Multiple Choice Test, Short Answer Questions.
  •  Right to the examination: 1 unexcused absence, 2 excused absences in the clinic and in the laboratory exercise.
  • Assessment of their participation in interactive teaching

Objective Objectives/Desired Results: Understanding the etiology and pathogenesis of surgical diseases
– The acquisition of fundamental knowledge in biological disorders caused by surgical diseases (water-electrolyte-acid-base balance disorders, nutritional disorders, endocrine disorders, shock, infections)
– The awareness of students to the major problems of modern surgery (accidents, multiple traumas, oncological surgery, degenerative vascular diseases, organ transplants).

Course Description: 1. Liver diseases: injuries, pyogenic abscess, amoebic abscess, liver echinococcosis, non-parasitic liver cysts, polycystic liver disease, neoplasms, portal hypertension.
2. Gallbladder diseases (anatomy physiology, gallstones acute-chronic cholecystitis, obstructive, surgical jaundice).
3. Pancreatic diseases (congenital anomalies, pancreatitis, neoplasms, endocrine tumors).
4. Surgical diseases of the spleen
5. Small intestine diseases (intestinal obstruction, inflammatory diseases)
6. Diseases of the large intestine - rectum - anus: hemorrhoids, ring fissures, periosteal inflammations - fistulas, appendicitis diseases, colon neoplasms, inflammatory diseases of the colon, diverticular disease of the colon, capillary fistula.
7. Carcinoid tumors and carcinoid syndrome
8. Peritonitis
9. Acute abdomen (symptomatology, clinical-paraclinical examination, classification of diseases that cause it, diagnosis – differential diagnosis)
10. Diseases of endocrine glands (thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal).
11. Diseases of peripheral vessels (arteries, veins, lymphatics)
12. Skin diseases (neoplasms-skin tumors, burns)
