 Please note that:

Academic scholarship candidates should: be holders of a doctoral degree relevant to the subject matter of the position to be filled, unless it is about a subject of exceptional and unquestionable particularity, for which it is not possible or customary to prepare a doctoral thesis according to the rules of the relevant art or science.

It is only permitted, exceptionally, in the event that no applications are submitted from PhD holders in a relevant field of study, to consider applications for candidacy from holders of a postgraduate degree, but not for the assignment of independent teaching work.

JUSTIFICATIONS

  1. Application form
  2. Brief CV.
  3. Copies of their academic qualifications. If the academic qualifications have been awarded by a foreign AEI, relevant certificates of equivalence from the Interdisciplinary Organization for the Recognition of Academic Qualifications and Information (DOATAP) must also be submitted.
  4. Documentation of the candidate's scientific reputation.
  5. Documentation of the candidate's professional experience.
  6. Documentation of the candidate's exceptional technical experience.
  7. Documentation of satisfactory teaching experience in Higher Education.

The supporting documents must be numbered in accordance with the number indicated in the candidate's CV. The titles of the submitted supporting documents must be presented in a table.

Completion of supporting documents of the announcement (new forms or new entries in submitted supporting documents) after the submission and registration of candidacy applications is permitted only if it concerns clarifying information.

The Foundation is not obligated to hire Academic Fellows in all the announced fields of study. Recruitment will be made in accordance with the educational needs of the Department, as they will be determined during the winter semester of the academic year 2025-2026 and the available budget appropriations for the fiscal year 2025.

The employment of Academic Fellows may be full or part-time. A full-time employee, i.e. forty (40) hours, may not engage in teaching work for more than sixteen (16) hours per week. The remaining twenty-four (24) hours in the case of full-time employment may be covered by research and clinical work. In the case of part-time employment, the obligation to provide teaching work is reduced depending on the percentage of employment. In any case, out of the total hours of teaching work, a maximum of (6) hours may concern the teaching of a theoretical course.

Forty (40) hours of full-time employment per week corresponds to five days of attendance (5 days) at the Academic Department, which (attendance) may be reduced depending on the employment rate.

Remuneration, weekly working hours and other related issues will be regulated before the signing of contracts.

It is not possible to employ retired members of the relevant or another HEI, domestic or foreign, or retirees from the broader public sector, as academic fellows.

For Civil Servants who will be selected for teaching and research work in Academic Departments of the University, prior permission to engage in private work with remuneration granted by the competent Service Council is not required in accordance with the Civil Service Code Law 3528/2007 (article 31), provided that the teaching and research work is carried out outside the employees' working hours.

In the opposite case, if the teaching and research work is carried out during the employees' working hours, they are required to present, before signing the contract, a permit to engage in private work for a fee, granted by the competent Service Council in accordance with the Civil Service Code (article 31). In this case, the Department will immediately notify them of a relevant document or certificate that will refer to the decision of the Department Assembly in order to request and secure the above permit in a timely manner. Solemn Declarations of public employees-candidates from which it appears that they have submitted an application for a permit from the services to which they belong, but these permits have not yet been issued due to the non-meeting of the relevant Service Councils, will not be accepted, because the invoked solemn declarations cannot compensate for the lack of the required legal condition of the existence of a permit from the service.

The maximum total (for teaching and research) assigned hours for the employment of a Civil Servant as an Academic Scholar, holder of a doctoral degree, may not exceed 10 hours per week.

The selected Civil Servants will submit a Solemn Declaration in which they will declare that the total assigned hours in Academic Departments of the University of Thessaly do not exceed the maximum assigned hours, i.e. ten (10) hours per week.

Candidates for Academic Scholarships who are Public Servants will be evaluated by the Department Assembly of the University of Thessaly on a separate list which will be used in the event that the lists of private candidates are exhausted and after a reasoned recommendation by the Department Assembly.

It is clarified that those who are assigned courses for the winter semester will also take the exams that will be held during the examination period of the winter semester of the academic year 2025-26, as well as the retake/retake exams.
