NOTICE FOR THE RECRUITMENT OF A TEACHER IN THE DEPARTMENT OF MEDICINE SCHOOLS HEALTH SCIENCES OF THE UNIVERSITY OF THESSALIA

 FOR THE ACADEMIC YEAR 2025-2026

The announcement of one (1) position of Appointed Teacher in the subject “VASCULAR NEUROSURGERY” for the assignment of teaching as well as clinical and research work to the Department of Medicine, School of Health Sciences of the University of Thessaly, based in the city of Larissa, for the academic year 2025-2026.

The conduct Teaching project concerns teaching in the lesson "“Basic Principles of Emergency Neurosurgery” (NP1100) (EP_2 ECTS) with 2 hours of teaching work according to article 64 of Law 4957/2022 of the Department of Medicine, University of Thessaloniki.

The conduct Clinical project concerns the special outpatient clinic "“Vascular Diseases of the Central Nervous System”"of the Neurosurgery Clinic of the Department of Medicine, University of Thrace for one (1) day per week and performing surgical work related to vascular diseases of the Central Nervous System.

The conduct Research project concerns the subject matter "“VASCULAR NEUROSURGERY”" with emphasis on vascular diseases of the Central Nervous System at the Neurosurgery Clinic of the Department of Medicine, University of Thessaloniki.

The selected candidate must hold a Greek Bachelor of Medicine degree or an equivalent foreign qualification, hold a Greek Doctoral degree or an equivalent foreign qualification in a subject relevant to the field of study of the position, have research work with publications in reputable scientific journals with an emphasis on the field of vascular diseases of the Central Nervous System and particular research involvement in the field of study of the position, have teaching experience in the field of study of the position.“VASCULAR NEUROSURGERY“", to have excellent knowledge of the English language and to have experience in conducting clinical studies.

The selected candidate will be employed through the Special Research Fund Account (SRA) under a project contract with the possibility of renewal or extension for up to three (3) consecutive academic years. The (gross) budgeted expenditure will amount to €1000.00. In the event of early retirement or resignation of the Teaching Assistant, the remuneration will be calculated in proportion to the months of work.

Academic criteria (required qualifications) for the selection of a tenured lecturer under article 173 of Law 4957/2022 (A'141),

1. Relevance: The relevance of the candidates' overall work to the subject under notice is examined.
2. Studies: The relevance and score of the candidates' doctoral degree to the subject to be taught are examined. Relevant postgraduate degrees, postdoctoral research, and the existence of scholarships are also examined and awarded points.
3. Publications: Original publications relevant to the advertised position in internationally recognized scientific journals, books/monographs, chapters in books/collected volumes, editing of scientific volumes, papers in proceedings of recognized international or national scientific conferences, and presentations at recognized scientific conferences are taken into account.
4. Teaching experience: The teaching work in higher education is valued, preferably independent and/or supplementary, depending on the educational needs of the departments and the nature of the courses to be taught.
5. Research project: Certified participation in funded research programs, or collaboration with research institutions and laboratories in subjects related to the subject to be taught, or as evidenced by the candidate's publications, is examined.
6. Professional work: The recognized professional work related to the subject matter of the advertised position is taken into account.
7. Scientific/academic recognition: Recognition of published work (including number of publications, h-index, citations, etc.), awards, patents, member of editorial boards of recognized scientific journals, reviewer of recognized scientific journals, member of scientific committees of recognized scientific conferences is evaluated.

In summary, the candidate selection criteria and their weighting factors for the Neurosurgery Clinic of the Department of Medicine of the School of Health Sciences of the University of Thessaly are:

It is clarified that, according to paragraph 9 of article 173 of Law 4957/2022 (A'141), The employment as appointed teachers of natural persons who have one (1) of the following qualities is not permitted:

a) Emeritus Professors and retired members of D.E.P. of the relevant or other A.E.I. domestic or foreign,

b) members of the Faculty of Education, Special Educational Staff (SEP), Laboratory Teaching Staff (EDIP) and Special Technical Laboratory Staff (ETEP) of HEIs, c) researchers and operational scientists of research and technological bodies of article 13A of Law 4310/2014 (Gazette A' 258) and other research organizations,

d) pensioners of the private or wider public sector,

e) employees with a public law or private law indefinite-term relationship with public sector bodies, as defined in paragraph a) of paragraph 1 of article 14 of law 4270/2014,

f) natural persons who have exceeded the age of sixty-seven (67^. ) year of age.

 The Chosen One/ The selected candidate must then submit:

1) Marital status certificate

2) Certificate (type A) from the competent Military Service Office, which shows that the candidate has no military or financial obligations or that he has been legally exempted from them.

Citizens of a member state of the European Union must submit, in addition to the above supporting documents, a bachelor's or master's degree from a Greek AEI, or a Greek Lyceum or six-year Gymnasium graduation certificate, or a 4th level Greek proficiency certificate from the Greek Language Center, which will prove full knowledge and comfortable use of the Greek language.

They will be searched officially (ex officio search), by the Secretariat of the Department:

1) Verification of the authenticity of the supporting documents, in accordance with par. 4 of art. 28 of law 4305/2014.
