The Director of the Department of Basic & Applied Biomedical Sciences, Professor of Medical Biochemistry Mr. Panagiotis Liakos, taking into account the provisions of article 48 of law 4957/2022, article 4 of PART B of Joint Ministerial Decision 123024/Ζ1/06-10-2022 of the Ministry of Education & Religious Affairs and the Ministry of Territory as well as chapter E of the Circular with protocol number 119929/Ζ1/30.09.2022 of the Ministry of Education & Religious Affairs.

DECIDE
THE ANNOUNCEMENT OF ELECTIONS

for the appointment of Director of the Cytogenetics and Molecular Genetics Laboratory of the Department of Basic & Applied Biomedical Sciences of the Department of Medicine of the School of Health Sciences of the University of Thessaly

for a term of three (3) years, from 01/09/2024 to 31/08/2027, on July 18, 2024, Thursday, from 09:00 to 14:00.
Those interested in the position of Director submit their application exclusively electronically at the email address enousiou@uth.gr, until Thursday, June 20 2024. Candidates may withdraw their candidacy no later than ten (10) days before the date of the vote. The resignation of the candidate is made exclusively electronically to the address enousiou@uth.gr, which is addressed to the body to which the candidacy is submitted in accordance with the above. Applications for candidacy and resignations are registered by the competent services of the HEIs, so that the date of their submission can be determined.
The Director of the Sector is designated as the Election Conducting Body (EDB). The election will be held exclusively by electronic voting through the Special Information System ("ZEUS Digital Ballot") of the National Network of Technology and Research Infrastructures SA (https://zeus.grnet.gr), under the supervision of the Director of the Sector.
Any full-time faculty member, at the rank of Professor or Associate Professor, who has been appointed and serves in the Laboratory of Cytogenetics and Molecular Genetics and has the same or a related field of study as that of the Laboratory, has the right to apply for the position of Director of the Laboratory of Cytogenetics and Molecular Genetics, provided that he/she does not leave the service during the advertised term of office. Exceptionally, a faculty member who leaves the service during the advertised term of office may apply if he/she is the only faculty member serving in the Laboratory or if there are no other candidates. Holding the position of Director of a University Laboratory is not incompatible with holding another position on a single-member administrative body of a Higher Educational Institution (HEI) or with membership in a collective body of the HEI.
The Director of the Sector checks whether the candidates meet the eligibility conditions, prepares a single ballot with all the candidates and supervises the conduct of the voting. It extracts the results, announces the elected Director and sends the election minutes to the Rector. The Rector issues a certificate of election, which is posted in the "DIAVGEIA" program.
The Director of the University Laboratory is elected by the person who receives the absolute majority of the valid votes of the members of the electoral body or at least one third (1/3) of the valid votes of the members of the special electoral body, if there is only one candidate. If there is a tie or no candidate received the absolute majority, the vote is repeated on the next working day between the candidates who received the same number of votes or occupied the first (1st) and second (2nd) places. In the event of a new infertile election process, this is repeated on the next working day, at which time the candidate who receives the relative majority of the valid votes is elected. If there is a tie, an electronic draw is carried out using the «ZEUS Digital Ballot» system between the candidates who received the same number of votes.
The electoral college for the election of the Director of a University Laboratory is composed of:
a) the total number of faculty members who have been appointed and are serving in it, if the laboratory is self-sufficient (i.e. at least five (5) faculty members of any level have been appointed and are serving in it) at the time of the announcement of the elections.
b) all faculty members of the academic unit to which the laboratory belongs, if the laboratory is not self-sufficient at the time of the announcement of the elections.
Only faculty members who are suspended or on leave without pay are excluded from the possibility of participating in the election process in accordance with par. 2 of article 40 of Law 4957/2022.
