Medical Department
The Faculty of Medicine was founded in 1985 and welcomed its first students in the 1990–1991 academic year. It was the first Faculty established within the School of Health Sciences at the University of Thessaly, became an autonomous department in 1995, and has since operated in Larissa.
Each year, the Faculty admits approximately 100 undergraduate students. According to official records for the 2023–2024 academic year, the Faculty has 834 active students. To date (as of 6 November 2023), a total of 1,696 graduates have completed their studies.
The Faculty maintains a strong research profile, with 432 active PhD candidates currently enrolled, and a total of 716 doctoral degrees conferred to date.
