"Diagnostic and Therapeutic Approach
of the Diabetic Foot"
The Department of Medicine of the School of Health Sciences of the University of Thessaly announces the start of applications for the academic year 2026-2027 for the Postgraduate Studies Program (PSP) entitled: «"Diagnostic and Therapeutic Approach to the Diabetic Foot".
The Postgraduate Diploma "Diagnostic and Therapeutic Approach to the Diabetic Foot" awards a Postgraduate Diploma (P.D.S.) with the title: «"Diagnostic and Therapeutic Approach to the Diabetic Foot"» (MSc in Diagnostic and Therapeutic Approach to Diabetic Foot) and is governed by the Postgraduate Studies Regulations of the University of Thessaly.
The Master of Science (MSc) in "Diagnostic and Therapeutic Approach to the Diabetic Foot" has the mission to cultivate and promote, through academic and applied teaching and research, the high-level education of researchers and health professionals in the prevention, correct diagnosis and treatment of patients with diabetic foot. It also provides its Graduates with the necessary equipment that will ensure their excellent training for their academic, scientific and research careers internationally.
The Master of Science in Medicine "Diagnostic and Therapeutic Approach to the Diabetic Foot" focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of the diabetic foot, a very specific nosological entity that develops in patients suffering from diabetes mellitus. The mechanisms of development of this nosological entity, diagnosis and treatment are explored in depth, while emphasis is also placed on the psychological and social support of patients as well as on prevention.
The Postgraduate Program "Diagnostic and Therapeutic Approach to the Diabetic Foot" accepts as Postgraduate Students (MS) graduates of Departments of the Schools of Health Sciences (Medicine, Nursing, Physiotherapy, Biochemistry and Biotechnology, Pharmacy), Departments of Physical Education and Sports Science (TEFAA) of domestic universities or equivalent institutions abroad, as well as graduates of other university departments related to the subject of the Program and graduates of ATEIs in the corresponding subjects (Physical Therapy, Nursing). The number of admitted students is set at an upper limit of thirty (30) students per year.
The duration of studies for the award of the Postgraduate Diploma (MPD) is set at three (3) semesters, starting in September 2026.
The tuition fees for the Master's Degree are €3,000. (1st semester: 1,000 euros, 2nd semester: 1,000 euros, 3rd semester: 1,000 euros) per postgraduate student.
A scholarship for the preparation of a Doctoral Thesis at the Department of Medicine of the University of Thessaly, is given to the first outstanding student based on his/her grades, who will complete his/her studies on time in three (3) semesters and will be certified by the three-member committee. The amount of the scholarship is €2,000.
In order to obtain the Graduate Diploma, students must collect 90 Credit Units (ECTS) in total, from the attendance and examination of eight (8) compulsory courses as well as from the preparation of a postgraduate thesis. The P.M.S. courses are held once (1) per month on Friday afternoons and Saturdays (online attendance is possible). The language of instruction of the P.M.S. is Greek and English. The language of preparation of the thesis is both Greek and English.
The selection of students in the PMS is made after evaluation of the following supporting documents:
1. Application for candidacy (in the Studies section, Forms subsection, on the Postgraduate Program website)
2. Detailed CV (according to a template that you will find in the Studies section, Forms subsection on the PMS website)
3. Copy of degree or certificate that the candidate has fulfilled his educational obligations. In the case of graduates of foreign universities, the recognition of the institution's title is based on the provisions of art. 304, paras. 4 and 5 and art. 307 of Law 4957/21-7-2022.
4. Copy of Detailed Gradebook
5. Scientific publications, awards, and evidence of research activity (if any)
6. Evidence of professional experience (if any)
7. Two letters of recommendation
8. Photocopy of both sides of the police ID card
9. Proof of knowledge of foreign languages
10. One ID photo
