Objective Objectives/Desired Results:

The general purpose of the course is to introduce students to the Major Schools of Thought in Psychology as well as to the study of mental functions such as Sensation, Perception, Memory, Learning, Emotions, Consciousness. Furthermore, the course seeks to provide students with the knowledge of the neurobiological background of normal psychological functions as well of psychopathology. Finally, a main purpose of the course is the study of therelationship between stress and health issues.

Comprehend thescope of Psychology concerning the human mind and behavior.

Be able to distinguish the different Schools of Thought of Psychology.

Comprehend the link among neuroanatomy, neurophysiology, mental functions andpsychopathology.

Recognize the role of stress in health issues as well as the mind-body interaction.
