Objective Objectives/Desired Results:

The course is the basic tool for the first substantial contact with gastroenterology

The course material aims to understand basic concepts and to introduce students to more specialized issues in gastroenterology

It also refers to diseases of the gastrointestinal system, giving more specialized knowledge and to endoscopic procedures with which students come into contact for the first time. In this sense, the course is the basis on which the student will get to know and understand pathologies of the digestive system and interventional endoscopic procedures. Finally, the aim of the course is for students to understand the importance of connecting gastroenterology with other pathological and surgical specialties in a distinct scientific field

Upon successful completion of the course, the student will be able to:

  • Understand and treat the most common diseases of the gastrointestinal system presenting as emergencies
  • Apply knowledge of endoscopic procedures
  • Distinguish different nosological entities
  • Use the basic knowledge acquired to delve into a more specialized subject
  • Analyze multiple clinical, laboratory, and imaging parameters

•  Collaborate with fellow students to timely build an effective differential diagnosis
