Objective Objectives/Desired Results:

The general purpose of the course is to introduce students to the relationship between social factors and mental health.

It also refers to the study and interpretation of the impact of social networks on various aspects of an individual’s life and, in particular, on their health.  In this sense, the course provides the basis on which the student will understand the importance of psychosocial factors in the etiopathogenesis and treatment of diseases. Finally, the aim of the course is for students to understand the importance of prevention in medical practice purpose.

Upon successful completion of the course the student will be able to use acquired knowledge in order to:

– Be sensitive to the relationship between demographic factors, social factors, family, cultural environment, physical environment and position in social networks and mental health.

– Is able to discern the importance of the individual’s adaptation to the social environment and the factors that promote or hinder it.

– Can work with fellow students to develop and present original work in the field of Social Psychiatry.
